Frequently Asked Questions

Combine the formatting markers: use three asterisks for ***bold italic*** text. You can also combine underscores and asterisks in various ways, like __**underline bold**__ or ~~**strikethrough bold**~~.

Discord supports many languages including javascript, python, java, cpp, css, html, json, bash, sql, ruby, and more. Use the language name after the opening triple backticks: ```python. Check Discord's documentation for the full list.

Wrap text in double pipes: ||hidden text||. Users must click or tap to reveal spoiler content. Spoilers work for text, links, and even image attachments (mark as spoiler when uploading).

Formatting requires the markers to be directly adjacent to text without spaces. Also, formatting doesn't work in code blocks (by design), and some contexts like embed titles have limited formatting support.

Use a backslash before the character: \*not italic\*, \`not code\`. This prevents Discord from interpreting the characters as formatting instructions.
