ASCII Art Text Generator

ASCII art requires a monospace font where all characters have equal width. If viewed in a proportional font (like in word processors or some web pages), the alignment breaks. Use code editors, terminals, or preformatted text blocks.

For code comments, choose fonts that are compact yet readable like "Standard," "Small," or "Mini." These create clear banners without taking excessive vertical space. Avoid overly decorative fonts that may be hard to read.

Wrap ASCII art in triple backticks (```) to create a code block. This preserves formatting and uses a monospace font. Some people also use HTML <pre> tags for more control over display.

True ASCII art uses only the 95 printable ASCII characters (letters, numbers, basic punctuation). Extended ASCII and Unicode "ASCII art" may not display correctly on all systems. Our generator uses standard ASCII for maximum compatibility.

FIGlet is a program that creates ASCII art text. Many ASCII art fonts are "FIGlet fonts" (.flf files). Our generator supports FIGlet-compatible fonts, giving you access to hundreds of community-created styles.

Width depends on font choice and text length. Most terminals are 80-120 characters wide. For code comments, stay under 80 characters for compatibility. Our tool shows the output width and can suggest compact alternatives for long text.
